摘要
This article examines the concept of dual identity from the perspective of Brewer's (1991) optimal distinctiveness theory of group identification. Iris argued that two different forms of dual identification with region (Hong Kong) ann ethnicity (Chinese) were forged among Hong Kong Chinese residents during the period prior to the transition to SARPRC status. The implications of this model for identity changes during the period of transition and for political stability in the region after 1997 are discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
