Simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and tinidazole in pharmaceutical preparations by high performance thin layer chromatography

A new simple, precise, rapid, and selective HPTLC method has been developed for simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and tinidozole in pharmaceutical formulations, The stationary phase was silica gel 60 F-254 prewashed with ammoniacal methanol; n-butanol - ethyl alcohol - 12.5% ammonia (4 + 1 + 2.2, v/v) was used as mobile phase. Detection and quantification were performed densitometrically at lambda = 293 nm, The linearity ranges were 10-200 ng and 15-300 ng for norfloxacin and tinidazole, respectively; the respective percentage recoveries were 99.94% and 100.13%.
