Preparation of hydrogen and carbon nanotubes over cobalt-containing catalysts via catalytic decomposition of ethanol

摘要
Catalytic decomposition of ethanol over a series of Co/Al2O3 catalysts to synthesize hydrogen and multi-walled carbon nanotubes has been studied at temperatures between 500 and 800 degrees C. An optimum experimental condition for ethanol decomposition has been investigated. The results show that Co/Al2O3 is an effective catalyst for the production of hydrogen and carbon nanotubes at the relatively low temperature of 600 degrees C. The reaction pathways of ethanol decomposition are suggested according to the products.
