摘要
Due to the concentration of users in certain regions of the virtual world. distributed virtual reality systems - DVRS - may become unbalanced, resulting in low performance and bad utilization of system resources. We studied this problem and proposed a queueing model and load balancing algorithms to reduce these effects. Some experiments showed how the utilization and response time of the system change as the number of users increases. We noticed that the overhead imposed by load balancing algorithms is low, except for the symmetrically-initiated algorithm. The other algorithms, sender-initiated and receiver-initiated, increase in less than 1 ms the mean response time of the servers when the unbalanced degree is low. When this unbalanced degree is high, these algorithms can improve the global system performance and decrease the response time of overloaded servers.
