WORLD LITERATURE TODAY: ON THE ETHICS OF HOSPITALITY

The present work aims to reflect on the ethical and political implications of the return of the concept of world literature in literary studies. Rather than just a set of texts from distinct literary systems - or that circulate beyond their national borders, we believe that world literature should correspond to an ethos of acceptance of otherness, a negotiation between the family member and the foreigner, in the sense that Jacques Derrida (2003) uses the idea of "hospitality" to talk about the recognition of the Other within an interactive and transversal relationship.
