In the original method a maize synthetic variety is obtained with inbred lines. Inbreeding from the synthetic is equal to 1/n, where n is the used number of lines. Synthetics can also be made with other kinds of populations obtained with inbred lines, that is single crosses and double crosses. Their inbreeding coefficients are different from the 1/n coefficient. In this article a synthetic is made with three-way crosses and its inbreeding and yield prediction is calculated.
