An instrumentation and control (I&C) system was installed in June 1999 to operate an existing soil and groundwater treatment system located in Bristol, Tennessee. The I&C system was designed to increase treatment system effectiveness, collect and store historical process data, and allow for remote operation. Results during the first six months of operation indicate greater solvent recovery, better identification of operational and system changes, and enhanced ability to correlate environmental changes such as ambient temperature and rainfall with system performance.
