Secondary risk factors in the progression of coronary artery disease

Blood serum total phospholipids (P), pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P), total homocysteine (H), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and neopterin (N) have been examined in 30 healthy persons and 84 patients (one-artery disease, 43 patients; two- or three-artery disease, 24 patients; restenosis, 17 patients) with coronary artery disease (CAD). We observed a decrease of P and P-5-P mean concentrations while H, hsCRP and N mean amounts were increased. These change were significant to prognosticate the course of CAD.
