摘要：

In Germany, prostate cancer is the most common malignancy and third most common cause of cancer deaths in males. Early detection enables a cure of prostate cancer in the majority of cases. Treatment initiated on the basis of an early diagnosis of prostate cancer may, however, also have harmful consequences. Therefore, it is necessary that prior to performing early detection examinations using prostate-specific antigen and digital rectal examination involved men should receive comprehensive and well-balanced information about the possible advantages and drawbacks of prostate cancer screening.
