Determination of acidity of ionic liquids and alkylation of isobutane with butene by chloroaluminate ionic liquids

摘要
A novel method was established to determine the acidity of ionic liquids by using pyridine as IR spectroscopic probe. This method can be used to identify the Bronsted/Lewis acidity of ionic liquids, and meanwhile roughly delineate the strength of the Lewis acidity. [bmim]Cl/AlCl3 was used as a catalyst in the alkylation of isobutane with butene. The effects of operating variables were investigated and optimized. Under the optimized operation conditions, the catalytic performance of the ionic liquid is comparable with that of H2SO4. In addition, the ionic liquid can be easily separated from the products and reused directly without any treatment for about 10 times.
