摘要:
Temperature effects on the electrodeposition of Al-Cr alloys from an acidic AlCl3-NaCl-KCl (61:26:13 m/o) melt were studied by voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The alloy deposition occurs at potentials more anodic than the reversible potential of aluminum at 230 degrees C and 270 degrees C. The deposition potential shifts cathodic with lowering temperature, and becomes more cathodic than the aluminum reversible potential at temperatures lower than 180 degrees C. Current transients analysis indicates that Al-Cr alloy deposits via a three-dimensional nucleation followed by the growth process under mixed kinetic and diffusion control at 230 degrees C and 270 degrees C. The nucleation process varies with temperature; a progressive nucleation at 230 degrees C and an instantaneous nucleation at 270 degrees C. No apparent evidence for a nucleation event was obtained at temperatures lower than 180 degrees C, although the current transients suggested the alloy deposition was under mixed kinetic and diffusion control.
