摘要
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), bottle waste and virgin PET were blended with high density polyethylene (HDPE), and blown films were prepared. Effect of ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, EAA, and maleated PP, (PP-g-MA), as compatibilizers was studied. Mechanical and barrier properties of the blends were studied. The overall performance of incompatible blends was found to be poor compared to HDPE. Compatible blends (especially containing EAA) exhibited better oxygen barrier properties and mechanical properties compared to incompatible blends. Thermal and SEM studies were carried out to understand the behavior of blends. The film from the blend had a paper-like appearance.
