By using terphenyl-3,3 '',5,5 ''-tetracarboxylic acid (H(4)tptc) ligand and different N-donor co-ligands, two Zn(II)-based coordination polymers (CPs) {[Zn(tptc)(1,2-bimb)(2) ]center dot 4.5(H2O)}(n)(1, 1,2-bimb = 1,2-bis (imidazol-1-ylmethyl) benzene) and {[Zn-3(Htptc)(2)(2,2'-bpy)(2)]center dot 1.5H(2)O}(n) (2, 2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) were prepared. Compound 1 could be used as a sensor for Fe3+ ion with a low detection limit. To develop novel candidates for Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatment, ELISA detection kit was used to determine the A beta 40 and A beta 42 content produced in nerve cells. RT-PCR was carried out to measure the ROS related genes relative expression levels, for example, pg91 and gp21.
