Complex permittivity and permeability of α-Fe2O 3 and Fe1-xO powders in the microwave frequency range between 0.2 and 13.5 GHz was investigated. Powder α-Fe2O 3 and Fe1-xO with an average particle size of 0.5μm was used for the measurement. The Fe1-xO sample was prepared from the oxidation of an electrolytic iron strip. The iron strip was suspended using a platinum wire in a SiC resistance furnace and equilibrated at 1 100-1 200 K for 48 h in the flowing gas mixture of CO2 and CO which is in equilibrium with the oxygen partial pressure. The phase and the lattice parameter of the oxidized sample were determined by using the XRD technique. The lattice parameter of Fe1-xO was calculated by means of the Nelson-Riley function, using diffraction peak. It has been reported that the electrical conductivity of Fe1-xO is larger than those of α-Fe 2O3 and Fe3O4.
