Performance analysis of multicore multimode fiber for passive optical network

摘要
We demonstrate the first multicore multimode fiber (MC-MMF) for passive optical network, efficiently utilizing the space division multiplexing to reduce the upstream traffic losses by eliminating the need of multiple feeder fibers. From the simulation results, the error-free performance is achieved for upstream transmission over 18 modes of MC-MMF. The differential group delay per unit length of fiber is also analyzed at different modes of MC-MMF with attenuation per unit length of fiber, respectively.
