Atom transfer radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate in fluoroalcohol: Simultaneous control of molecular weight and tacticity

摘要
The simultaneous control of the molecular weight and stereochemistry of polymethyl methacrylate was carried out using the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The synthesis was carried out using methyl α-bromoisobutyrate/CuBr/tris (2-(dimethylamino)ethyl)amine (Me 6TREN) as the initiating system in fluoroalcohol at low temperatures. It was observed that the polymerization in fluoroalcohol produced polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with narrow dispersities. The results show that the addition of CuBr2 effects early stage of the polymerization and the M wMn values of PMMA were lower than produced by the ATRP without CuBr2.
