NMR oligomer resolution by intramolecular complexation in a poly(ethylene glycol) with an electron-acceptor end group

摘要
Intramolecular charge transfer interaction (CT) in a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with an electron-acceptor end group was investigated. The CT complexes were observed to behave like a chemical shift reagent for PEG of different molecular weights. It was reported that the CT complexation allowed the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) resolution of the molecular weight distributions in aqueous solutions at high concentrations. It was shown that the lower limit of the concentration range was imposed by phase separation while the upper limit was based on the viscosity of the solution.
