Enabling pervasive computing with smart phones

The various ways being adopted to develop universal information services delivered over ubiquitous, high-speed wireless networks are discussed. Most pervasive systems inherit the Internet's legacy of open standards and systems, and end-to-end application architectures. This offers distinct security advantages as the telephony network operator has greater control over management operations. The mobile phone networks provide an almost global ubiquitous wireless access network, which satisfies most requirements of pervasive computing information service delivery. Mobile phones advance processing capabilities offer many opportunities for developing novel information services.
