Performance and emission investigation of a biodiesel fueled low heat rejection diesel engine

摘要
To investigate low heat rejection (LHR) engine application on a biodiesel fueled engine the combustion chamber elements of a direct injection turbo charged diesel engine coated with yttria stabilized zirconia layer of 0.35 mm over a nickel-chromium-aluminum bond coat of 0.15 mm by the atmospheric plasma spray coating method. The result of the engine tests has shown that with LHR engine application combustion energy of biodiesel increased up to 37.5 %, brake thermal efficiency decreased up to 27.3 %, exhaust gas enthalpy increased up to 18.6 %. CO2 emission increased up to 150.9%, Smoke emission increased by three fold for low engine test speed and decreased by 38.4% for high engine test speed. NOx emission decreased up to 52.3 %.
