摘要
Array systems, such as those found in phased array radars, present unique challenges to the reliability, maintainability and availability (RM&A) modeler. Due to their large size and gracefully degrading nature, modelers struggle to construct these models using traditional techniques. These techniques often require compromising assumptions in order to simplify the model, while also limiting the ability to include maintenance in the model to support cost/performance trades. Traditional techniques also result in models that are often difficult to maintain and modify. A Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) model that relies on measured flow, versus the number of successful paths, can greatly reduce model complexity. Performing this technique in an RBD simulation tool opens the door to a variety of support cost versus performance trades. Flow modeling can therefore accelerate the path to an optimally sized and supportable array design.
