Preparation, characterisation and third order optical non-linearity of novel material [(C4H9)4N]2[Mn(dmit)2]

摘要
The preparation and characterisation of a novel dmit organometallic complex crystal [(C4H9)(4)N](2)[Mn(dmit)(2)] (dmit(2-) =4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiole-2-thionate) (BAMDT) are described. The crystal was characterised by elemental analyses, UV-Vis-NIR absorption and infrared spectra. Thermal decomposition process was investigated by means of thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis measurements both in air and under nitrogen flux. The third order optical non-linearity at the acetone solution is characterised using the Z-scan technique with a 20 ps pulse width at 1064 nm. The Z-scan curves show that BAMDT possesses a negative non-linear refraction and negligible non-linear absorption. The effective molecular second order hyperpolarisability gamma(eff) of the BAMDT molecule was estimated to be as large as 3.2x10(-31) esu, suggesting that BAMDT has potential for non-linear optical device applications.
