摘要：

A comprehensive overview on well-established as well as newly developed strategies in the field of anhydride desymmetrization has been presented. The discussion was limited to the diastereo- and enantioselective desymmetrization of cyclic meso-anhydrides and related synthetic applications. Parallel kinetic resolution of asymmetrically substituted racemic cyclic anhydrides as well as parallel and dynamic kinetic resolution of N- and O-carboxy anhydrides have also been summarized. As a result of the development of new methods, even the synthesis of challenging substrates can now be successfully addressed.
