摘要
Understanding sexual behavior is key to the effective prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and developing effective intervention programs. As a social activity, sex and the activities that surround it, are linked intimately to the society and the context in which they occur. Sexual partnerships, and the factors that are related to their creation and dissolution, have received particular interest as a key determinant of STD risk. Sexual risk and partnership development patterns respond to societal economic, sociologic, political, and technologic change. This article explores these patterns and relationships.
