摘要
Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is associated with high morbidity and mortality, and most people who suffer an acute aortic syndrome are unaware of having underlying aortopathy. To reduce harm associated with TAA, screening of at-risk individuals and timely referral for elective repair are necessary. In this Training/Practice paper, we provide guidance to clinicians when considering TAA screening practices, and when deciding on appropriate timing for elective surgical repair for those who have a TAA diagnosed. In addition, highlight topics in critical need of additional research, aiming to improve health care efficiencies and decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with this condition.
