摘要
This paper describes the design of a MIMO-OFDM based Cognitive Radio for a fixed WLAN scenario. While OFDM is utilized to realize the goal of transmit/receive spectrum shaping, multiple antennas help exploit the inherent orthogonality of severe multipath channels to realize spatial multiplexing, thereby enhancing the effective throughput of the system. The availability of multiple antennas also introduces the possibility of varying the data rates by employing antenna selection schemes based on the channel state information (CSI) that is available at the receiver and/or transmitter. The proposed system simultaneously utilizes the various degrees of freedom - space, time and frequency to realize the goal of a cognitive radio. A modulation recognition scheme is demonstrated to enable the radio to move between different networks and therefore recognize and work with different modulation schemes.
