摘要
Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) is a frequent manifestation of generalized atherosclerosis which leads to reduced quality of life through reduced mobility and might result in loss of limbs in cases of progression especially in diabetics. The aims of conservative therapy are symptomatic relief through pharmacological and other treatment and reduction of atherosclerotic risk factors in order to prevent progression of the underlying atherosclerosis and therefore avoiding amputation as well as cardiac and cerebral events.
