摘要
This article is a continuation of the article "Intermetallic gamma-Titanium Aluminide Based Alloys from a Metallographic Point of View" by H. Clemens and F. Jeglitsch published in Practical Metallography, 37 (2000) 194-217. In addition to the motivation behind the development of these types of materials, this second part also contains details regarding their properties and possible applications. The composition of such modern multi-phase alloys is described and their processing routes discussed. In this respect, the development strategy of the current gamma-TiAl based alloys is presented. The micro- and nano-structures present after processing and multiple heat treatments are also described. Each of these points is illustrated with examples taken from metallographic investigations interpreted with reference to both physical metallurgy and materials physics.
