Synthesis and Properties of the Polynuclear Platinum Complex [Pt4q(NH3)4 (μ-HPO4)4 {C4H8OH(NONH)}2 (C4H8OHNH2)6]m

Oligomeric complex [[H(n)Pt(4)(q)((NH(3))(4) (mu-HPO(4))(4) (mu-NO(2))(2)H(2)O](m) (I) (+2 < q < + 2.5) reacts with optically active amino alcohol (R)-(-)-2-amino-1-butanol CH(3)CH(2)CH(NH(2))CH(2)OH (Amb) to give polynuclear complex [P(NH(3))(4) (mu-HPO(4))(4) {C(4)H(8)OH(NONH)}(2) (C(4)H(8)OHNH(2))(6)](m) ( II) containing the stable amido nitroso group or formed in the course of amidonitrosation reaction between the (mu-NO(2)) [GRAPHICS] group of complex I and the NH(2) group of Amb. Compound II was characterized by the elemental analytical, XPS, electronic absorption spectroscopy, and circular dichroism data, and the conclusion was drawn that a nitrosoamido ligand is present in this compound. A plausible structure of II and the character of intramolecular interaction of the excess Amb molecules with the ligands surrounding the polynuclear metal framework are discussed.
