摘要
The paper deals with a problem of evaluation of target reliability index for-structural engineering applications. The target reliability index is in most cases determined from probabilistic analysis of structures which are deterministically designed. However, it is noted that deterministic designs contain high degree of variability. Thus, uncertainty related optimization at the design stage is introduced to obtain target reliability index, which is better suited for subsequent analysis. Reinforced concrete beam is considered as an illustration for the procedure. Target reliability index and implied partial safety factors have been evaluated for different beam designs and live load configurations.
