摘要
An indirect method of determining radiative neutron-capture cross sections for unstable nuclei which we refer to as the gamma-ray strength function (gamma SF) method is outlined and applied to Zr and Sn isotopes. Photoneutron cross sections for Zr-91,Zr-92,Zr-94,Zr-96 and Sn-117,Sn-116 near neutron threshold show the presence of extra gamma-ray strengths known as giant M1 and pygmy E1 resonances on top of the low-energy gamma SF of GDR. Based on the gamma SF method, we present (n,gamma) cross sections for two radioactive nuclei, a long-lived fission product, Zr-93 with T-1/2= 1.5 x 10(6) y and an s-process branching point nucleus, Zr-95 with T-1/2 = 64.0 d.
