A residual excited LPC speech coding algorithm using vector quantization

摘要
This paper proposes a low complexity speech coding algorithm in which the prediction error is encoded using vector quantization, where the distance between the prediction error an the code vectors are estimated and the index of the code vector with minimum distance is selected and transmitted to the decoder together with the predictor coefficients. These predictor coefficients and the codebook index are then used for decoding of speech signal. Computer simulation results show that proposed coder provides a fairly good performance with a Mean Opinion Scoring of 3.5 as compared with 4 36 obtained by the Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM) algorithm under the same conditions.
