The essay or the philosophy of wandering meaning. The interpretative nature of the essay as an artistic mediation between metaphysical logocentrism and nihilistic dissemination

This article shows that the essay is a literary genre that carries with it a philosophy, a philosophy of finitude that is based on the idea of equivocity and on the affirmation of the fragmentary against the concept of system. The hermeneutic nature of this essayistic philosophy allows for pluralist thought and can be summed up by the concept of wandering meaning; it seeks to overcome the radical difference between Platonic logocentrism and deconstructive dissemination. Moreover, the conceptual thought of the essay requires an artistic/literary dimension in order to approach the life-world.
