摘要
The government has failed in providing housing for low-income public servants in Nigeria by handling the issue of housing alone. Where the government had in the past provided housing for this category of citizens, it had failed in maintaining the infrastructure and the houses provided. The call for a collaboration between the public and the private sector in housing delivery will bring succor to the low-income public servants who presently are inadequately accommodated. The article looks at the problems of housing in Nigeria and the concept of public private partnership (PPP) with particular reference to housing delivery. A case study of the Shagari Housing Estate, which is a public housing estate, was examined along with its physical characteristics and the results are presented. Recommendations were proffered in the light of the PPP initiative in housing delivery to low-income public servants in Akure, Nigeria.
