Effect of polymer concentration on the surface properties of polyacid-poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) complexes

摘要
The effect of polymer concentration on the surface properties of equimolar interpolymer complexes of polyacrylic and polymethacrylic acids with poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) is studied at 298 K by measuring surface tension, conductivity, and viscosity, as well as by the potentiometric titration of mixed polymer solutions. The surface activity and the standard free energy of the adsorption of the individual polyelectrolytes and interpolymer complexes are calculated from the surface tension isotherms. Complexation is shown to increase the surface activity and decrease the standard free energy of the adsorption of macromolecules.
