COMPLIANCE WITH THE SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT GOALS THROUGH THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE COLOMBIAN BANKING SECTOR: THE CASE OF ASOBANCARIA'S GREEN PROTOCOL

The Green Protocol is a voluntary initiative of the financial sector led by Asobancaria in Colombia; it emerges as a solution to mitigate climate change, contribute to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. This study proposed the analysis of the contribution of Colombian commercial banks by applying the guidelines of the Protocol and its impact to the environmental sdgs. The case of study method was applied using qualitative and quantitative information. First, a document review of sustainability took place (2015-2017), which reports the actions carried out by commercial banks, and then theoretical and conceptual foundations, international and national framework and concepts issued by experts in sustainability interviews, were applied. Of the banks studied, Bancolombia and Davivienda stand out, they are referents worldwide, recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Finally, the commitment of the commercial banks applying the guidelines of the Green Protocol and contribution to the 8 environmental sdgs demonstrates the commitment to environmental sustainability.
