摘要
This paper proposes a self-adaptive network bandwidth scheduling approach based on improved random early detection (RED), which can be fully exploited in next generation passive optical network (NG-PON). The proposed method is able to prevent network from high congestion and low utilization caused by bursty traffic, as well as to fairly and effectively assign the network resources to accommodate different types of data stream. Simulation results show that compared with traditional congestion control schemes, our proposed approach can significantly reduce the average packet latency and make the best of bandwidth resources to accomplish high network utilization. The superiority exhibited promises a potential and future-proof application for optical access network.
