摘要
We examined the relationship between parenting practices and behaviour problems among deaf children. Parents of 39 deaf and 37 hearing children (ages 3-8) completed the Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (APQ; Shelton, Frick, Sr Wootten, 1996) and the Eyberg: Child Behavior inventory (ECBI; Eyberg 61 Rose, 1978). For both groups, inconsistent discipline was positively correlated with behavior problems. There were no differences between the two groups on APQ Inconsistent Discipline, Corporal Punishment, Positive Parenting, or Monitoring/Supervision Scales, however, parents of deaf children scored lower on the Involvement Scale. Generally, the same parenting practices related to behavior problems in hearing children are related to similar problems in deaf children. There is no evidence that the greater prevalence of behavior problems among deaf children is a result of inadequate parenting.
