STUDY THE TIGRIS RIVER IN SOUTH OF BAGHDAD CITY AND MAY USE IT AS IRRIGATION WATER

摘要
This study aims to evaluate the Tigris River in the south of Baghdad city as irrigation water uses and comparison with three international classifications. Samples from three different sites (Al Dora, Al Za'franiya and Arab Ejbur) along the Tigris River through the south of Baghdad city from November 2017 to October 2018. The parameters of river water quality used in this work are pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total dissolved solids TDS mg/l, total hardness mg/l, Salinity PPT, Calcium ion (Ca+2) mg/l, Magnesium mg/l and Chloride (Cl-) mg/l). Data analysis shows the highest value of study parameters (pH, EC, TDS, TH, Salinity, Ca, Mg and Cl) was 8.1, 1192 mu S/cm, 769 mg/l, 531mg/l, 651 PPT, 350 mg/l, 68.04mg/l and 141.36 mg/ l, respectively and most of them happened throw winter session and from the comparison of the quality of irrigation water, depending on the three international classifications data results show that the some water that may have detrimental effects on sensitive crops, sensitive plants usually show slight to moderate injury and Tigris river water caused damage to salinity and alkalinity.
