Synthesis and structural characterization of functionalized organolanthanide complexes [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4)PPh(2))(2)Ln(DIME)] (Ln=Eu, Yb) (DIME equals diethylene glycol dimethyl ether)

摘要：
The reaction of [(diphenylphosphino)cyclopentadienyl]thallium [Tl(C(5)H(4)PPh(2))] with metallic europium or ytterbium powder in THF (tetrahydrofuran) at 60 degrees C in the presence of metallic mercury, followed by crystallization from a mixture of dimethoxyethane and diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DIME) (10:1), afforded [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4)PPh(2))(2)Eu(DIME)] 1 and [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4)PPh(2))(2)Yb(DIME)] 2 respectively. Crystal and molecular structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.
