The aim of the study carried out in 1987-1989 was to determine the effect of fungal communities iri soil environment under potato crop on the growth of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn. Biotic properties of the communities of soil fungi in relation to species pathogenic for potato - R. solani were investigated using the biotic series method (Manka 1974). The investigation on the biotic relations showed that the communities of fungi associated with the analysed plough-land environment supported the growth of the pathogen R. solani. This biotic effect, unfavourable from the point of view of the course of the disease, was observed both in period of plant emergence and in full maturity of potato. Belonging to the strongest acting antagonistic fungi in relation to the investigated pathogen R. solani were fungi from genera Trichoderma and Mucor.
