Reference values of erythrocyte enzymes, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase

摘要
In the last years attention is more and more paid to free oxygen radicals and damages caused to human organism. Their association with more then 100 different diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, is emphasized although their true role in the onset and development of these diseases has not yet established. The aim of the article is to elucidate the important role of the antioxidant system in these diseases, and to determine the reference values of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) in erythrocyte enzyme activities. SOD and GPX activities were determined in voluntary blood donors. Reference values for SOD erythrocyte activity were 697.4 to 1104.2 U/g Hb and for GPX erythrocyte activity 18.21 to 39.05 U/g Hb.
