Extension of a new routing algorithm based on NS2 network simulator

NS2 is a widely used network simulator on the network research and design. As a kind of open source software, NS2 lacks the ability to simulate new algorithms, and the realization of its routing protocol is very complex, which blocks greatly the research on simulation and the extension of routing modules. This paper discusses the structure of NS2 network simulation software and its functional extension principle, and it analyzes in details the functions and realization of its routing modules. The paper eventually proposes a method to extend a new routing algorithm in NS2 and gives a real simulation example.
