摘要：

A short introduction is given to the problem and present status of the United Nations initiative to establish a regional Network of Space Research and Education Institutions in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Elements of a comparative study performed among the countries in the region which have expressed their intention to participate in the Network are presented, and suggestions for future progress are given.
