摘要：

This article presents the role of women in the contemporary democratic society, the relationship between democracy and women's participation in cultural, political and social life in the contemporary world. The focus is on the aspects of equality and inequality between the sexes and some stereotypes and prejudices. The paper maintains that in a democratic society, equality between men and women implies equal rights and opportunities.
