Measurement of the Neutral Current Deep Inelastic Scattering Cross Section at Low and Medium Q2 Using H1 Data

This report presents the measurements of the inclusive deep inelastic e(+)p scattering cross section at low and medium virtuality of the exchanged boson, 0 2 < Q(2) < 150 GeV(2). The results are based on data collected with the HI experiment at the HERA collider at positron and proton beam energies of E(c) = 27 6 GeV and E(p) = 920 GeV, respectively. The data are combined with previously published data taken at E(p) =820 GeV. The region of low Q(2) and low Bjorken x allows precision tests of perturbative QCD at high gluon densities. The transition region from the photo-production to the DIS, Q(2) approximate to 1Gev(2), cannot be analyzed with QCD The data therefore are studied by the phenomenological models. In the region of medium Q(2), 12< Q(2) <150 GeV(2), a perturbative QCD analysis at next to leading order is used to determine the parton distribution in the proton based on the obtained cross section data In this region the resulting high precision was achieved up to 2 %.
