摘要：

This review summarizes several short contributions that I made in the role of WET (co-)Director. I review the progress of the WET since our last workshop in 1999. I discuss the diversification of our targets, the growth of the CCD component of our instrumentation, and the evolution of our funding situation. We also face new opportunities and new challenges with respect to our changing and growing membership.
