Correlation of mechanical and physical characteristics with the structural parameters of continuously cast hot-rolled steel 45

摘要
We determined the structural parameters, the mechanical properties, and the physical characteristics of specimens cut out of an ingot of continuously cast steel 45 and from billets obtained from the ingot by hot helical cross rolling with different reduction. Refinement of the structure as a result of hot processing improves simultaneously the strength and ductile properties, and also the magnetic characteristics used in nondestructive quality control of steel billets. The existence of a correlation between the structural parameters and the magnetic characteristics make it possible to use nondestructive method; for checking the structural state of billets at different stages of the technological process of producing machine parts.
