Poly(ethylene oxide)/poly(methyl methacrylate) blends: Crystallization, hardening and microhardness behavior

摘要
Polymer blends of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEG) have been prepared with different ratios of She two polymers. The Vickers microhardness measurements have been carried out for studying the effect of composition ratio of two polymers and load. The addition of PMMA beyond 10 wt% to PEO results in hardening of the polyblend. This has been attributed to the effective hardening character of PMMA being incorporated in the polyblend which also reveals the miscibility of the two components. The effect of crystallization and associated morphological changes have been correlated with the microhardness behavior in the different regions of varying weight proportions of the two polymers.
