HRTEM study of precipitates in Mg-Zn-Y alloys as cast and after extrusion

摘要
The precipitates in Mg-Zn-Y pseudoternary alloys with nominal atomic composition Mg96Zn1Y3, Mg96Zn 2Y2, and Mg97Zn1Y2 were investigated using TEM and XRD. The samples were made from both as-cast ingots and those after Equal Channel angular Extrusion. Both the precipitates and the small size 18R structures act a significant role on the improvement of the mechanical properties of the alloys. The results show there is composition concentration of elements Zn and Y on nanometer scale in the sample alloys.
