摘要
Pregnancy in adolescents is a global problem that occurs due to situations such as: unprotected sex, lack of knowledge of how to use contraceptive methods, not using them, not getting along with the partner to use them and the absence of sexual orientation in cases of sexual assault. Emergency contraception (EC) is a medical intervention that has become a public health strategy, and refers to contraceptive options that can reduce the risk of pregnancy after intercourse, but before the establishment of a pregnancy, therefore, they are emergent measures and under no circumstances abortive. Analyzing the problems covered by emergency contraception, it is essential to identify how vulnerable adolescents are, how high is the unwanted pregnancy in this group, check how effective and accessible emergency contraceptives are and their use, and how they could be contribute as medical personnel to the solution of this problem. To do this, a qualitative descriptive study was carried out based on bibliographic reviews, where information was exhaustively searched, including various types of studies taken from the following sources: Cochrane, Pubmed, and specialized journals.
